The Central Bank of Iraq announced on Tuesday that banks with capital of less than 250 billion dinars will be allowed to participate in the currency auction.
"The approval of banks with a capital of less than 250 billion dinars to enter the window of sale and purchase of foreign currencies for the purpose of strengthening their assets abroad," the bank said in a statement received by the economy.
"The participation will be in accordance with the mechanisms and instructions followed in this regard and implement this decision immediately."

The Central Bank modifies a previous decision to participate in the currency auction
The Central Bank of Iraq decided on Tuesday to allow banks with a capital of less than 250 billion dinars to participate in the auction of currency, explaining that this is in accordance with the mechanisms specified.
"The approval of banks with a capital of less than 250 billion dinars has been given to enter into the window of sale and purchase of foreign currencies for the purpose of strengthening their assets abroad," the bank said in a statement received by the Journal News.
The bank added that "the participation will be in accordance with the mechanisms and instructions in this regard, and implement this decision immediately."
It is noteworthy that the auction currency sells hard currency in huge amounts per month to a number of banks participating in it, often from the direction of criticism.
The central bank had prevented about five years ago private banks with a capital of less than 250 billion dinars from participating in the auction, explaining that it is not a permanent decision.

, said the Iraqi Central Bank , on Tuesday, allowing banks to less than a capital of 250 billion dinars participating auction currency.

The bank said in a statement that Alsumaria News received a copy of it that "the approval of banks with a capital of less than 250 billion dinars to enter the window of sale and purchase of foreign currency for the purpose of strengthening their assets abroad."

"The participation will be in accordance with the mechanisms and instructions followed in this regard and implement this decision immediately."

The Central Bank of Iraq had decided in 2013 to exclude private banks whose capital is less than 250 billion dinars from participating in the auction, noting that some decisions of exclusion are not permanent.

    Thanks Rocky, very interesting -

"The approval of banks with a capital of less than 250 billion dinars to enter the window of sale and purchase of foreign currencies for the purpose of strengthening their assets abroad," - purpose of strengthening their assets abroad - wondering how many "smaller" banks need to strengthen their assets - are they smaller Middle East banks - who are these banks???? sounds like the CBI is getting ready for something, "abroad" to me means international.
