Ankara declares mourning and calls its ambassadors in Washington and Tel Aviv
Turkey summoned its ambassadors to Tel Aviv and Washington to "consult" and announced mourning for 3 days for victims of violence on the Gaza border, where dozens of Palestinians were killed and thousands injured.
"We summoned our ambassadors in Washington and Tel Aviv to consult, and the parliament will hold a special session tomorrow to discuss the issue of Jerusalem, and the government will inform the parliament of its position," Turkish government spokesman Bakr Bouzdag told a news conference on Monday evening.
"Our country will call a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly through an initiative of our Foreign Ministry," he said.
The spokesman for the government that Turkey as the current Chairman of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, decided to invite the Organization for an emergency meeting on Friday.
"What happened in Gaza proved Washington's involvement in the blood of the Palestinians," Bouzdag said. "The hands of Israel are always stained with the blood of the Palestinians, but the events of Monday showed that the hands of the United States are also stained with Palestinian blood."
He pointed out that his country declared mourning for three days, in solidarity with the Palestinian people against the backdrop of the massacre committed by the Israeli army on the border strip of the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the killing of 58 people, including children and injuring more than 2,400 others, by the Israeli army in clashes in the eastern Gaza Strip, during the "Great Return" marches. Finished
