The work of parliament ends constitutionally at the end of this month, legal expert Haider al-Sufi said Wednesday.

Sufi said in a press statement that the current MPs will lose their constitutional and constitutional immunity on the first of next month, noting that the end of the life of parliament will not affect much the work of the State and its executive bodies.

He added that the work of other regulatory bodies such as integrity and financial control and the Office of the Inspectors General will continue and this executive control can be active in the absence of parliamentary oversight.

He explained that the absence of parliament and its legislative and supervisory authority does not affect the formation of the system of government in Iraq or the peaceful transfer of power and the political process, noting that the Constitution has no text to extend the work of Parliament, but provides a specific life of his work ends at the end of four calendar years.
