    A senior Iraqi ministerial delegation arrived in Saudi Arabia yesterday at the request of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to discuss the energy crisis in the country, a day after the Ministry of Electricity failed negotiations with the Iranian side to re-supply Iraq with energy after Tehran cut, The distribution of electricity, which triggered widespread popular demonstrations in the south of the country.

    According to the Iraqi Ministry of Planning in a previous statement, the Minister of Planning Salman Jumaili, head of the Iraqi side of the Iraqi-Saudi Council, will head a high-level delegation to the city of Jeddah.

    The statement quoted Jumaili as saying that "the visit of the delegation comes at the behest of the Prime Minister Haider Abadi, explaining that it includes oil ministers Abdul Jalab al-Allaibi, electricity Qassem Fahdawi, transportation Kazem cup pigeons, and a number of general managers in a number of ministries."

    He stressed that "the delegation will discuss with the Saudi side issues and important files within the framework of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council," pointing out that "the energy file, which includes electricity and fuel, will be one of the most important files to be discussed with the Saudi side." He pointed out that "the delegation will also discuss other issues related to the activation of air transport, sea and land between the two countries."
