    The head of the Defense and Security Committee of the Russian Federation, Viktor Bondarev, compared the size of Russian troops' losses during the three years of operations in Syria and Western forces in Iraq.
    On Sunday, the third anniversary of the start of the Russian military operation in Syria, Bondarev said that Russia had lost 112 soldiers in the country, while "Western forces lost during the first three years of the invasion of Iraq (2003-2006) , 2309 of them - from the US forces, as well as the destruction of 10-20 tanks of the type "Abrams" and dozens of armored personnel carriers and at least 50 combat vehicles of type "Bradley", and 15 aircraft and about 80 helicopters.
    On the other hand, he recalled the losses of the Soviet forces during the first three years of the Afghan campaign, indicating that it amounted to about four thousand and eight hundred military, in addition to destroying at least 60 tanks and 400 pieces of armored personnel carriers, combat infantry vehicles and armored reconnaissance vehicles, and 15 Aircraft and 97 helicopters.
