The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, expressed his regret over the continuation of his country's conflict with some Arab countries. He also stressed that the crisis will continue and reviewed Qatar's economic achievements over the past year.
Qatar will continue to develop its oil and gas sectors as part of its keenness to maintain its position as the world's largest exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), the Emir of Qatar said in a speech at the opening of the 47th session of the Qatari Shoura Council on Tuesday.
He pointed out that Qatar's exports grew by 18% last year, while spending shrank by 20%, pointing out that Doha has followed a conservative fiscal policy to overcome the decline in energy prices in the markets.

He added that the Qatari economy had grown stronger and that his country maintained the Qatari riyal exchange rate under the boycott imposed by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt in June 2017.

The value of Qatari exports reached 245.7 billion riyals ($ 67 billion) last year, compared with 208.6 billion riyals ($ 57.2 billion) in 2016, according to data from the country's Ministry of Planning and Statistics.
