A senior political source said on Friday that dozens of deputies supported the resignation of their colleague Ahmed al-Jubouri as defense minister.
The source said in a statement to Ashfaq News today that it was "agreed on the assumption of MP Ahmad al-Jubouri to the post of Minister of Defense by a large number of deputies and that came through the approval of 63 deputies have been signed."
The source added that "Jubouri is very popular by most of the MPs and that Jubouri is an officer in the former Iraqi army, and is familiar with the management of military institutions."
"Another political source close to the decision-making said that the security ministries have not been resolved so far, and may delay the deal to notify the other," likely to be passed those ministries with one basket.
The Iraqi parliament voted at the end of last October on 14 ministers from the new government of Adel Abdul Mahdi, while delaying the vote on 8 ministers.
Parliament postponed the vote on the ministries of defense, interior, culture, education, justice, planning, higher education, and immigration due to disagreement over its candidates.
The positions of the Minister of Interior and Defense shared by Shiites and Sunnis in Iraq, according to the quotas in force in the distribution of positions in successive governments on the rule of the country after the fall of the former regime, where the first position of the first component, and the second component of the second.
