    President of the Republic Barham Salih on Wednesday pledged to the delegation of the "Catholic Patriarchs of the East" to protect diversity and promote tolerance, stressing that it is one of his priorities in the presidency, while the delegation pointed out that Iraqi Christians are interested in the stability, security and progress of the country. 

    The Presidency of the Republic, in a statement received Alsumaria News, a copy of it, " The President of the Republic Barham Saleh, received today, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, His Beatitude, Cardinal Mar Louis Raphael first Saco Chaldean Patriarch in the world and the Delegation of the Eastern Catholic Patriarchs of Jordan, Palestineand Lebanon and Egypt accompanying His Beatitude ".
    "The president welcomed the visiting delegation at the beginning of the meeting," the statement said, adding that "the importance of the role played by Christians in national history, stressing that living in a country that respects all religions and beliefs and respects freedom of expression and belief is the vital area for building a state. Modern and civilized society, and that is what makes all religions respected and appreciated. " 

    The statement said that the President of the Republic "informed them that he was happy to receive them at the Peace Palace and Dar Al-Salam - Baghdad, and stressed that the visit of the delegation is a reassuring message, and that Iraq is a corner reservation in the area, and once Iraq recovers and unites its ranks will serve the caliphate and spirit of tolerance and see the echoes and repercussions of this matter On the region. "

    The statement quoted the president as saying that "the principle of citizenship is what makes everyone live in the country of all, a country where everyone is a citizen regardless of their cultural, religious and intellectual identities, and thus does not require any of us to the expressions of minorities and the majority." 

    The president told the delegation of visiting denominators that he "does not deal with Christians or any other component on the basis of the minority, but believes that the Iraqi components are authentic and equal components of rights and duties, and as the guardian of the constitution in Iraq will protect diversity and promote the spirit of tolerance and coexistence through working on Achieving genuine national reconciliation ". 

    "This will be one of the priorities of his presidency in Iraq," the statement said.

    "The Iraqi Christians are interested in the stability, security and progress of the country, and they are looking to overcome the problems they face by bypassing all Iraqis by their diversity of the problems facing the nation-building process," said Cardinal Mar Luis Rafael Sacco. 

    Cardinal Sacco also expressed his wishes "to quickly complete the formation of the government to secure the requirements of construction in the economic, security and service and the establishment of a state deserved by the Iraqis." 

    The bishops also spoke with the representatives of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Lebanon as representatives of their countries at the 26th Catholic Patriarchs' Conference in Baghdad. The President listened to their aspirations and peaceful coexistence among the Arab countries.
