    The government announced on Tuesday a national strategy to combat violence against women in Iraq.
    "The Iraqi government declares the national strategy to combat violence against women within the UN campaign 16 days of activities to combat gender-based violence launched in Iraq under the slogan" a society without violence, a stable homeland, "a statement from the Secretariat said.

    The Secretary-General outlined the decisions and actions taken by the Government and the international strategies and commitments that Iraq has undertaken to support and protect women, notably Security Council resolution 1325 and CEDAW, the strategy for poverty alleviation, the fight against violence against women and gender-based violence and other commitments.
