Iraq is a political bully against Trump's flashy visit

US Secretary of State Donald Trump's secret visit to the base of Ain al-Assad, west of Anbar province, to meet US troops in Iraq was met by angry reactions from political parties, which they considered to be outside diplomatic contexts.
In a statement on Thursday, the alliance expressed its deep surprise at the visit of US President Donald Trump to the al-Assad military base west of Anbar province, which is out of all diplomatic contexts, stressing that the visit was "a flagrant violation of diplomatic norms and showing contempt and hostility towards the Iraqi government. This is totally unacceptable "
The statement added that "Trump's visit places many question marks on the nature of the US military presence and its real objectives and what could constitute these targets of the threat to the security of Iraq," calling on the government to reject this visit and to inform the United Nations and summon the US ambassador in Baghdad as a matter of urgency .
For his part, the Secretary General of the movement of Asaib Ahl al-Haq, Qais al-Khazali, in a tweet on "Twitter" today, that "Trump's visit to a US military base without regard to diplomatic norms reveals the reality of the American project in Iraq," noting that "the response of Iraqis will be the parliament's decision to remove Your military forces against your nose and if you do not come out, we have the experience and the ability to take it out in another way known to your forces that forced to get humiliated in 2011. "
The head of the National Sindh bloc, MP Ahmed al-Asadi, also expressed his rejection of the continued presence of US forces after it became a burden on the people and the Iraqi government, adding that "the manner in which the announcement of the visit was intended to underestimate the feelings of Iraqis."
He pointed out that "this visit provocative feelings of Iraqis, although it was the knowledge of the Iraqi government, the demand for the withdrawal of these forces has become a basic requirement must be implemented as soon as possible."
The office of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, issued a statement yesterday evening on Trump's visit to Iraq, said that a meeting between the Iraqi leadership and President Donald Trump, was canceled because of disagreements on how to organize the meeting, adding that "was supposed to be a formal reception and meeting between Abdul Mahdi and the American president, but divergent views of the organization of the meeting led to the replacement by a telephone conversation on developments in the situation .
US President Donald Trump on Wednesday acknowledged security concerns accompanied his visit to Iraq, expressing "deep sorrow" for his need for all this secrecy to meet US troops there .
Trump said he was worried about the trip "when I heard what you had to go through." Trump, who left Washington at night on a lighted plane, said two "visits" had already been canceled after news leaked out.
"It is very sad when you spend $ 7 trillion in the Middle East, that it takes to go there with all this enormous secrecy, the aircraft around you, the world's greatest equipment, and everything to do it safely, " he said.
On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump arrived at the Ain al-Assad base in Anbar province in western Iraq at 19:16 local time, accompanied by his wife Melania, a small group of aides and secret service agents, and a group of journalists .
This is the first visit of US President Donald Trump to Iraq since taking office in January 2017, and came following his decision to reduce the number of US troops in Afghanistan and the announcement of a full withdrawal from Syria.
