Shafak News / Iranian President Hassan Rowhani said on Thursday that Rafsanjani was the one who ordered the launch of the "Karbala IV" military operation.
This came in a speech delivered today at a ceremony marking the second anniversary of the death of former President Sheikh Hashemi Rafsanjani.
"A week after the failure of the fourth Karbala operation, the planning of Karbala's fifth operation was planned," Rowhani said.
Earlier, during the Iran-Iraq war, Muhsen Rezaei, the former Revolutionary Guards commander, described the fourth Karbala operation as a "trickle" of the "Karbala" operation, which was aimed at deceiving the enemy.
In his memoirs, the late Hashemi Rafsanjani pointed out that this operation resulted in: "A thousand martyrs, in addition to the three thousand and 900 fighters who were missing, who should also be considered martyrs."
"The problems failed to break Rafsanjani," he said. "Neither the shackles of the SAVAK nor the lashes that targeted his identity managed to break him."
"The missile is our defense weapon, and we are proud of it," Rowhani said, adding that "Hashemi Rafsanjani is the one who ordered the missile industry in Iran," and that "the defense force and modern technologies are a reminder of Hashemi."
According to Rohani at the ceremony, the coming weeks will see Iran launch two satellites using locally manufactured rockets, promising to lift all military sanctions from the country within the next two years. "
