    The head of the parliamentary bloc of Islamic preachers Mohammad Shiaa al-Sudani on Tuesday called on the cabinet to speed up the adoption of the unified social insurance law for public and private sectors, calling on all social and media bodies to adopt a public opinion to explain the concept of this law. As it will provide a safety umbrella for more than (5) million workers in all sectors.
    "The adoption of a draft law (social insurance) provides a free and dignified life for a large group of society working in various sectors, including the informal sector, which lacks social security," al-Sudani said in a statement.
    He added that "the current pension system is fraught with a lot of drawbacks, such as the existence of a system of bilateral retirement and large disparities; thus exacerbating the differences between the public and private sectors, and that this dual system does not encourage the movement of work," noting that "Despite the face of Iraq from Significant challenges, we need to move to an ad hoc system of benefits that has an effective impact on the financial sustainability of the pension system. "
    He added that "the most important features of the bill is the inclusion of all branches of social insurance; and stipulated in the laws of the International Labor Organization and the World Bank and their instructions, which were not insured in Iraq previously, such as insurance (maternity and unemployment insurance and secure the optional guarantee and insurance of the informal sector).
    "This draft law includes expanding the scope of those under the retirement system in Iraq through the inclusion of workers in the private sector and entrepreneurs and companies and individual entrepreneurs under the umbrella of social insurance, which guarantees a decent living for them and their families."
    He pointed out that "the adoption of the law will be reflected on the development of the Iraqi economy and reform of the system of state resources and the restructuring of economic sectors important to ensure the establishment of a true economic path based on the pillars of a new partnership with the private sector and revitalize in a manner that stimulates the economic cycle and helps in creating jobs and achieve a quantum leap In the labor market. It will also open doors for private sector employees and professionals to enter the social security system, which supports the values ​​of social solidarity among all segments of society. "
    "The law provides for the insurance of income for the insured in the public and private sectors and for their successors in the cases of retirement, disability, injury, old age and death. The law will establish the Social Insurance Authority and the Social Insurance Fund to calculate the amounts deducted from the insured The employer will contribute 13% of the monthly wage of the insured and the retirement of pension rights for insured persons referred to retirement. "
