DAMASCUS (Reuters) - Troops began on Friday the latest operation to expel a criminal advocate from the last pocket they control in the eastern province of Baguoz, an official of the Syrian Democratic Forces told Reuters on Twitter.
"After our forces completed the evacuation of the Baguoz civilians and the liberation of our fighters who were abducted by Da'ash, only the terrorists remained in Baguoz," said Mustafa Bali, media officer for the Syrian Democratic Forces  .
"So our forces began to move militarily and engage with terrorists to complete their final liberation," he said.
"The attack started at 6:00 pm (1600 GMT) and will end when the last of the da'ashi ends," he told AFP. "Heavy shelling has begun."
The Syrian Democratic Forces, a coalition of Kurdish and Arab factions, have been leading an offensive since September 10 to expel the organization from  eastern Deir al-Zour , and the organization's control areas have gradually been reduced to a small spot on the outskirts of the Baguz, bordering the Iraqi border.
Syria's forces suspended its military operations two weeks ago, accusing the organization of using civilians trapped in "human shields"
