The Iranian president, Hassan Rowhani, stressed that the development of economic cooperation between traders and economic activists in Iran and Iraq serves the interest of both peoples and the region.
"The Iranian and Iraqi peoples have always been on the side of each other to find security and stability and have offered the peoples of the world the best experience in recent years in this context," Rowhani said at the joint Iraq-Iran trade meeting held at the prime minister's residence in Baghdad on Monday.
He stressed that "today, in light of the sacrifices of the people and the Iraqi army, we are witnessing security conditions in Iraq."
"The Iranian government and people are pleased to stand with the Iraqi people and army from the very beginning in the fight against terrorism," Rowhani said.
He said the establishment of security and stability in Iraq was "in the context of the stability of Iran and the region and provide the ground for commercial and cultural activities for all."
