Deputy: Reopening the border with Syria will serve Iraq economically

"The re-opening of the Iraqi-Syrian border will not contribute to the infiltration of terrorists into the country again," he said, adding that he would serve Iraq economically.
"Iraq respects the neighboring countries and does not impose its will or interfere with its internal affairs, so we are opening the Iraqi-Syrian border again, so that Iraq will be open to its neighbors," Bukhati told the news agency.
"The opening of the border with Syria will not lead to the infiltration of terrorists into Iraq again or the like, and Iraq is not and will not be a battlefield or a rival to neighboring countries," he said.
"Iraq is suffering from an economic crisis and it needs energy and economic exchange with neighboring countries and Syria," he said. "The re-opening of the border will serve Iraq economically."
