China stops importing Iranian oil
In a new blow to the Iranian regime, China stopped buying oil from Iran as US sanctions came into force, a blow to the Iranian economy as China is Iran 's biggest importer. After Washington announced its decision not to extend exemptions to some countries for continuing to buy oil from Iran, China, along with other countries such as India, Turkey, South Korea and Japan, stopped completely buying direct Iranian oil
, international newspapers said, citing sources in the Iranian oil sector . The newspaper pointed out that in mid-May, the mobilization of a Chinese tanker in the mouth of oil on the island of Kharg Iran.
" China has enough problems with the US side, so it does not want to give Washington a new excuse to complicate bilateral relations more," an Iranian source said in a press statement .
For his part, Rahim Zari, member of the Economic Committee of the Iranian parliament, said that these five countries, Taiwan, Greece and Italy, last March purchased 1.6 million barrels of Iranian oil per day.
"These countries are already committed to US sanctions, at the moment."
This comes in light of the tense situation between America and Iran, and the imposition of strict sanctions on the Iranian regime to stop supporting terrorist activities, in addition to blatant interventions in the region.
