URGENT:
Sadr's leader, Moqtada al-Sadr, called on Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi to intervene to contain the crisis in Kirkuk province, or give him the right to act to "save" the province.
"Kirkuk is a victim of corruption and national conflict, government, either to act or to act, we may benefit and not harm," he said in a statement to Sadr, read by the Rwandan media network.
