Parliament issues clarification on granting pensions to displaced MPs

BAGHDAD -
The Presidency of the House of Representatives on Tuesday issued an explanation on the parliament's vote on granting members who have been replaced by financial concessions.
The Presidency said in a statement received a copy of it that "a reference to what some media and social networking sites reported from the news that the House of Representatives voted to grant members who have been replaced financial concessions, the Presidency of the House of Representatives would like to clarify that the law of the House of Representatives And its formations No. (13) for the year 2018, which regulates the legal status of deputies.
The statement added that "these deputies have been replaced in accordance with Article (52) of the Constitution, the Federal Supreme Court of the provisions numbered (214/2018, (213/2018) and 217/2018 and its unification 15/2019), therefore; the House of Representatives Only those provisions have been implemented, and here we would like to emphasize that the implementation of the decisions of the Court does not have any financial impact on the Council. "
The Presidency confirmed that "there are no retirement privileges for the members of the House of Representatives in the current electoral cycle or previous sessions, including the President of the Council and his deputies, and that the unified retirement law is the one that regulates the mechanisms of retirement and is subject to all employees of the State; in implementation of the ruling of the Federal Supreme Court No. 140 and its unification 141/2018) of 23 December 2018 ".
