The Iraqi parliament is "surprised" by an external loan to the Iraqi government with 200 million dollars

The Iraqi government has borrowed 200 million US dollars to improve the electricity sector in the country, a member of parliament, Alia Nassif, announced on Monday.

"We have put an item on the budget by stopping foreign borrowing. We are surprised that the Ministry of Finance borrowed $ 200 million, which is surprising, and we do not know how it borrowed the amount out of the budget on the pretext of improving energy, even though we have collected signatures at the time of the budget legislation to include an article that prevents foreign borrowing and obliges the government to borrow internally the need".
"There are hands that want to colonize Iraq in a different way through external borrowing. We can not bind the people for generations. The child that is born will be indebted and the government should stop this and go to internal borrowing," Nassif said.
