, MP Salem Al-Issawi announced his adherence to his candidacy for presidency of Parliament, noting the “pressures and temptations” he is exposed to.
Al-Issawi said in a tweet followed by Mawazine News, “No matter what the pressures and temptations are, I will not submit except to God the Creator and what is in the interest of Iraq, and I will remain loyal to the covenant I made to the homeland, and the oath I took before my people and my honorable patriotic colleagues in the House of Representatives.”
He added, “I tell them that I will continue to adhere to your nomination for the Presidency of Parliament, to defend the system, the constitution, the law, and legislative and oversight work, in order for Iraq’s name to remain high among the nations.”
