The MP for the Muthanna province, Faleh Abdul Hassan on Sunday, the approval of Saudi Arabia to open the port of Gemayma border in Muthanna province, noting that the Iraqi government formed a committee headed by Minister of Planning Nuri al-Dulaimi to study the opening of the port.
"The province of Muthanna is safe and stable, and it is considered the second largest province in Iraq (area). There are clear security efforts by the Border Operations Command and the Muthanna Police Directorate to protect the province and secure its areas," Abdul Hassan told the NRC.
He added that "there is movement with the local government of Muthanna province and the Prime Minister on the opening of the port of Gemayma border in the province of Muthanna in coordination with the Saudi government," stressing "strengthen the political stances between Iraq and Saudi Arabia and the general economic benefit between the two countries."
"This committee is a ministerial committee under the chairmanship of the Minister of Planning and one of the priorities of the discussion directly with the Saudi government through joint meetings," Abdul Hassan said. "There is a great response to opening the port of Jamaima."
