US President Donald Trump has threatened Turkey with consequences that may not be limited to sanctions for launching a military operation against Kurdish units in northeastern Syria.
Asked by a journalist about what the United States would do if Turkey eradicated the Kurds in northern Syria, Trump said on Wednesday: "I will erase the [Turkish] economy if that happens."
The US president added: "I have done so in relation to Pastor Bronson," referring to US sanctions on Turkey in response to the latter's detention of US pastor Andrew Bronson last year.
Trump suggested that US actions may not be limited to sanctions alone. "I agree to sanctions and even to harsher measures than sanctions," he said. is over
