[rtl]ARBIL (Kurdistan 24) - US President Donald Trump has said the ceasefire is holding "very well" in northeastern Syria.
    [/rtl]
Trump made the remarks while joint Turkish-Russian patrols monitored the Syrian border after the withdrawal of the SDF.
"Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wants to visit the White House. We have a very good relationship. The ceasefire is holding up very well," Trump told reporters at the White House.
"We have protected the oil fields, and others can patrol Syria's borders. We don't want to do that."
"We want to bring our troops home. But we left the soldiers because we are protecting oil. We are keeping oil and working with the Kurds, and frankly working with Turkey and with many countries," Trump said.
It is noteworthy that Turkish and Russian forces began on Friday joint patrols in northeastern Syria, as part of an agreement to ensure the withdrawal of Kurdish fighters from the border.
