The US Defense Department confirmed, "The Pentagon", on Wednesday, the transfer of the "Patriot" defense system to Iraq, while noting that Iraqi officials are aware of the need of the American forces to this system.
"America will transfer the Patriot defense system to Iraq, to protect it and protect the American forces there, from the air strikes we are exposed to, at the military headquarters in Iraq where the coalition forces are located," Pentagon spokesman Sean Robertson said in a statement carried by Kurdish media. .
He added, "It is important to note that Iraqi and coalition soldiers were killed in the same attacks, which assaulted Iraqi sovereignty."
Robertson added: "We continue to work to transfer the defense system to Iraq, but we cannot reveal all the details for security reasons, and Iraqi officials are fully aware that we need this system, and there is coordination and cooperation between us, in this regard."
