Sources say some MPs are "clearly rebelling" against their bloc leaders over the zarfi government vote

Informed sources revealed, Sunday, the existence of what they described as a "state of rebellion or rebellion" for a number of deputies belonging to Shiite blocs, decided to vote for prime minister-designate Adnan Al-Zarfi,in the event ofa parliamentary session.
According to a report of an Arab newspaper published today, April 5, 2020, the passage of the new government within parliament requires a majority of half plus one, meaning that the prime minister-designate, Adnan Al-Zarfi, will need 166 deputies out of 329 deputies, the total number of seats in parliament.
The report quoted sources as saying that so far the total number of seats in the camp opposed to the passing of Zarfi, in parliament is about 100 of the 329 parliamentary seats, namely the Fatah Alliance and its member blocs, namely Badr, Ata, Sadiqoun, Willa, Sanad, Virtue and the State of Law Coalition.
"On the other hand, other Shiite forces support the mandate of Zarqai, the Coalition of Walkers, 54 seats, The Wisdom Movement, 19 seats, and the Victory Alliance, 30 seats, to make up a total of 103 deputies," she said. In addition, Sunni Arab political blocs (about 70 seats) and Kurdish (about 60 seats), as well as a Turkmen bloc and minority blocs, are expected to vote for Zarfi after negotiations with thelatter."
For his part, Al-Hikma MP Asad al-Murshidi said that "there are deputies who will vote for Zarfi, away from the
opinion or decisions of the presidents of their blocs," revealing that there is a clear rebellion of the deputies against the leaders of their blocs and parties, and zarfi will pass the votes in favor of him in parliament.
"These deputies are aware of the seriousness of the stage, and the formation of the government must be resolved in any way, and the crisis will not solve the failure of Al-Zarfi or remove him from the mandate, and anyone who comes to his place will meet similar opposition from one of the parties," he said.
He explained that only the alliance "Fatah" and "State of Law" are the ones who object and there are deputies from the two blocs who will vote for Zarfi, expecting that next weekwill see the presentation of the government to parliament, at thelatest.
Al-Murshidi said the timing of the visit of the new Qods Force commander, Ismail Qa'ani, to Baghdad is not sound, and a clear intervention in the formation of the new Iraqi government, pointing out that "deputies from the Shiite component, considered the visit an intervention, and for this reason confirmed their support for the prime minister in charge away from the heads of blocs and political parties."
"Al-Zarfi managed to get a parliamentary majority, which is why he put his government program before parliament, and his ministerial formation is almost ready, and he will present it to the deputies within days," said Nada Shaker Joudt, a member of the Victory Coalition.
