Pompeo: Trump has spared the world the dangers of Iran
Shafak News / US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Washington's withdrawal two years before the Iran nuclear deal made the region safer.
Pompeo said in a tweet on Twitter: "Trump withdrew two years before the nuclear deal, and the world avoided Iran's risks of nuclear violence and threats."
"Today Americans live safer and the Middle East region has become more peaceful better than before," he added.
Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated significantly since Washington decided in May 2018 to withdraw from the international nuclear agreement signed with Tehran in 2015 and reimposed major economic sanctions on it, as the matter was further exacerbated after the killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad in January.
Iran has gradually backed away from its obligations under the agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in response to a US withdrawal from it.
