The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, said that the strategic dialogue that took place with the United States resulted in several important points that would establish a new phase of bilateral relations between the two countries.
This came during a meeting between Al-Kazemi, Friday evening, in Washington with the US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and in the presence of the Republican minority leader in the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, and other members of the Republican and Democratic parties.
A statement issued by Al-Kazemi's office, on Saturday, stated that the meeting discussed ways to develop bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States in the security, economic, educational and other fields.

The meeting also discussed, according to the statement, increasing the efficiency of the Iraqi security forces and their combat capabilities in a way that moves the relationship between the two countries to a new stage, in addition to discussing the issue of displaced persons and minorities.
The statement quoted Al-Kazemi as saying that "Iraq is a sovereign state, and dealing with it shall be according to this principle, indicating the need to strengthen cooperation between Iraq and the United States, especially in the economic field."
He stressed that "the prospects for cooperation between Baghdad and Washington are not limited to the security and military side only, but also to various fields that include rehabilitation and reconstruction of Iraq and building economic partnerships with the United States."
For her part, Pelosi said, "The United States supports the current Iraqi government and its national orientations," according to the statement.
She emphasized that "Iraq is an independent country and an important country in a difficult region, and that there is a consensus to support the independence of the government of Iraq, rehabilitate the Iraqi state and support Iraq's efforts in the war against ISIS."
The Iraqi Prime Minister is conducting a visit to the American capital, Washington, as part of a strategic dialogue on combating terrorism and the survival of US forces in Iraq.
On Thursday, US President Donald Trump received Al-Kazemi at the White House, where the two parties discussed ways to rein in pro-Iranian militias in Iraq and confront the threats of ISIS sleeper cells.
Trump said during the meeting that the US forces are in Iraq to confront any possible Iranian move, stressing that his country's forces will leave Iraq if the country is able to defend itself.
Al-Kazemi's visit to the United States witnessed the signing of several energy agreements with huge American companies, most notably General Electric and Chevron, which amounted to $ 8 billion.
