    [size=45]Yesterday, Wednesday, the Ministry of Planning announced an increase in the inflation index for the month of January by 0.9%, and the annual rate of 3.3%.[/size]
    [size=45]The ministry's spokesman, Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi, said in a statement that (Al-Mada) received a copy of it, that "the monthly inflation index for last January rose by 0.9% compared to the previous month," indicating that "the annual inflation index also rose by 3.3% compared to the same Month of 2020 ”.[/size]

    [size=45]He added that "the increase in the dollar exchange rate since mid-December of 2020 has caused a decrease in the value of the local currency and an increase in the prices of goods and services because most of these local goods are imported."[/size]
    [size=45]Al-Hindawi pointed out that "the increase in the monthly inflation index for December focused on the rise in the goods and services section, a rise of 2.1%, due to the rise in gold prices throughout Iraq."[/size]
    [size=45]He continued, "The health department also witnessed an increase of 1.3% as a result of the increase in the main group of medical products and services, which include pharmaceutical products such as blood pressure and diabetes treatment, the increase in the doctor's fee in private clinics and the increase in the fees for private hospital services."[/size]
    [size=45]He explained, "The housing department recorded an increase of 1.4% due to the increase in the water and electricity supply group, the fuel group and the rent group by 0.2%," indicating that "the education department also recorded an increase as a result of the rise in the private lessons section in a number of governorates."[/size]
    [size=45]The agency confirmed, "The increase in the annual index for the month of January compared to the same month in January 2020 came as a result of an increase in the tobacco section by 11.2%, and the housing section recorded an annual increase of 0.3%, and the health department recorded an annual increase of 13.6%."[/size]
    [size=45]He added that "the transportation department recorded an annual increase of 9.7%, and the communications department recorded an annual increase of 5.8%, while the entertainment and culture department recorded an increase of 11.1%, and the services and goods section recorded an increase of 13.7%."[/size]
    [size=45]In a related context, the Ministry of Planning revealed a preliminary agreement with Kurdistan to monitor imported goods.[/size]
    [size=45]The head of the Ministry's Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, Hussein Ali Daoud, said, "The initial agreement includes the control of goods and goods by the staff of the agency that will be sent there, in addition to the entry of the staff of the border crossings and the customs authority to those controls."[/size]
    [size=45]He added that "this matter was discussed by the head of the Border Crossing Authority during meetings with regional officials to agree to work for the next stage," indicating that "the details of this agreement have not been received for the agency so far." He expressed his "hope that the agreement will bear fruit, enabling the agency to monitor goods entering through the region's ports."[/size]
