Iranian Assistant Minister of Interior for Security and Police Affairs Hossein Zulfiqari announced today, Thursday, that a draft security agreement has been prepared between Iran and Iraq.
The Iranian government media website stated that "the Assistant Minister of Interior for Security and Police Affairs Hussein Zulfiqari held talks with the Supreme Adviser to the Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Halim Fahim Al-Farhoud on ways to develop security cooperation between the two countries."
Zulfiqari said during the meeting, "We are now witnessing good cooperation with Iraqi officials in various sectors, including at the level of the Ministry of Interior, where the citizens of the two countries benefit from the results of this cooperation."
According to the website's report, "officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq will soon sign an agreement for cooperation in the field of security and internal security between the two countries."
