Yesterday, Monday, the local administration in Basra confirmed that the Al-Faw port will be completed within the deadlines stipulated in the contract, pointing out that the Ministry of Transport is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the project. She indicated that the budget provided sufficient financial allocations for him.
In an interview with Al-Mada, Deputy Governor Moein Al-Hassan said, “Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, when he visited Basra, was briefed on the five projects that had been laid the foundation stone for them in the port of Faw. Al-Hassan added, "Two projects from Al-Faw Port have been completed, namely the breakwater and rock blockage, and we have left five other projects to be completed by the Korean Daewoo Company." He pointed out, "The remaining projects are related to the container yard, the marine channel, the Khor Al-Zubair channel, and the road linking Umm Qasr and the port."
Al-Hassan explained that "the general budget of the Iraqi state has allocated funds to complete these projects, in order to ensure the correctness of the companies' delivery of their dues as soon as the work entrusted to them is executed." He stressed that “the port of Al-Faw will be completed within the specified times according to the contract concluded with the Korean company,” indicating that “the authority responsible for monitoring the implementation of the contract is the Ministry of Transport, because it is the one that entered into it through the Director General of the Iraq Ports Company, and it is the sectoral entity benefiting from this project.” “. And Hassan continues, "The Prime Minister emphasized the implementation of the obligations placed on the government side, which are the funds that will be given to the companies according to the completion rates." Al-Hassan went on to say that "work will take place despite the difficulties that we have suffered from over the past years, in order to complete a project that was an important dream for the people of the province." For his part, Al-Basri MP Ali Al-Hamidawi said, in a statement to Al-Mada, that "the budget allocated good funds for strategic projects."
He stressed the need for "the regulatory authorities to exercise their role in the process of controlling the exchange and its mechanisms, and for the executive bodies to be able to fulfill their promises regarding this port." Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi had laid the foundation stone for the large port of Faw, explaining that his projects would provide many job opportunities for the people of Basra and the rest of the provinces, and would contribute to the development of the province.
