    {Economist: Al Furat News} Oil prices fell today, Monday, due to fears that the escalation of Covid-19 infections in India will squander demand for fuel in the third largest importer of oil in the world.

    Brent crude futures fell 0.6 percent to $ 65.73 a barrel, by 0507 GMT, after a 1.1 percent rise last Friday.
    US crude futures, "West Texas Intermediate", fell 0.5 percent to 61.83 dollars a barrel, after rising 1.2 percent on Friday.
    On a weekly basis, the two benchmarks lost about 1 percent last week.
    Kazuhiko Saito, chief analyst at Fujitome Brokerage, said, "The sentiment in the market is affected by concerns that the increase in the number of cases of Covid-19 in some countries, especially India, will reduce the demand for fuel."
    In Japan, the fourth largest buyer of oil in the world, a third state of emergency began in Tokyo, Osaka and two other provinces yesterday, affecting nearly a quarter of the population as the country struggles to cope with the increase in the number of infections.
