U.S. AMBASSADOR TO IRAQ: WE WILL NOT CLOSE EMBASSY IN BAGHDAD AND NO INTENTION TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF OUR TROOPS

     2021-04-27 06:49
U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Matthew Toller said Tuesday that the United States will not close its embassy in Baghdad and will not increase the number of troops in the country.

"There is a strong commitment to the partnership between Baghdad and Washington," Toller said in an interview with the Saudi-funded al-Arabiya satellite channel.

He noted that the attacks against our embassy and bases are a target of the prestige of the state, adding that those who attack our interests in Iraq belong to Iran.

"The weapons used to attack our interests are Iranian industry," Toller said, noting that militia agendas in Iraq come from Iran's Revolutionary Guards.

"We stand against Iran's malicious activities until they change their behavior."
