, Minister of Electricity Majed Mahdi Hantoush confirmed, on Wednesday, that non-payment of energy wages is one of the causes of electrical power problems.
Hantoush said, "Failure to pay energy wages is one of the causes of the electric power problems, and that the collection revenues are estimated at one billion dollars annually only," indicating that "the random, unpredictable expansion has a negative impact on the electricity sector."
He pointed out that “energy rationing will make supplies there 24 hours a day, stressing that Iraq needs 28 thousand megawatts, and we hope that we will reach the production of 22 megawatts.
” And he added, “In a few months, it is not possible to address the problem of accumulation for years.
” He added that “the cost of energy production in Iraq is the lowest in the world if compared to the global costs, indicating that "the Ministry of Electricity spends 15 billion dollars annually to produce energy."
He added, "The production of a thousand megawatts costs the ministry $ 70 million," noting that "the strategic plan needs financial allocations."
He continued, "The Ministry of Planning cannot allocate funds for strategic projects, explaining that" if organized housing is available, we will be able to control electricity remotely and with modern technologies. "
