The Finance Committee in the House of Representatives said that the 2022 budget law may face great difficulties as it coincides with the election date.
"The 2022 budget will face a big problem in approving it, especially since early elections will be held in October of this year," committee member Majid Al-Waeli told the official newspaper and his follower, Ultra Iraq.
He added, "The budget will proceed towards the disbursement of sums according to the Financial Management System 1/12, as happened in the budget of last year," noting that "the new parliamentary session may begin at the beginning of 2022 and not this year."
He added that "there is a possibility to present the project to be discussed in the current session, but he may realize it at the time of the elections," explaining that the bill "may wait in the committee’s drawers until the members of the Finance Committee arrive in the next session for discussion and approval."
Al-Waeli explained that "the formation of the House of Representatives committees takes a long time after the members of the House of Representatives win the elections.
