    Shafaq News/ The Ministry of Interior revealed, on Tuesday, properties and homes of citizens that had been usurped and illegally seized in the “Al-Bataween” area in central Baghdad, which witnessed a major security operation a few days ago.
    The ministry said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, "After the qualitative operation carried out by the branches and formations of the Ministry of Interior in the Al-Bataween area in Baghdad, the ministry discovered that there are properties and homes belonging to citizens that have been usurped and seized illegally."
    The Ministry called on "anyone whose home or property within this area has been usurped to report to the Al-Saadoun Police Station and bring papers or evidentiary evidence so that the competent authorities can work in cooperation and coordination with the judicial authorities to restore his stolen rights."
    Yesterday, Monday, the spokesman for the Interior Ministry and the Security Media Cell, Brigadier General Miqdad Miri, told Shafaq News Agency that the ongoing security operation in the Bataween area witnessed the arrest of 618 defendants in the latest outcome of the ongoing operation to impose security and enforce the law.
    Last Thursday, the Al-Bataween area was subjected to the largest security and service operation in years, through which it lifted the lid on an “underworld” of prostitution, drug manufacturing and trade, and organized crime.
    The Al-Bataween area is located in central Baghdad, a few meters from the Freedom Monument, between the famous “Abu Nawas” Street and the Tigris River to the west. It is bordered by Tahrir Square to the north, and the Karrada area to the south. In its center are concentrated the most famous cinemas, hotels, shops, and huge companies of various kinds, based on... Both sides of Al-Saadoun Street, which crosses it, extending from Al-Firdous Square to Tahrir Square, and in the middle is Al-Nasr Square, which represents the largest concentration of medical specialties in the country.
