Shafaq News/ A member of the Finance Committee in the Iraqi Parliament, Nermin Maarouf, revealed on Tuesday the reasons for the delay in sending April salaries to the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Marouf, a member of the Finance Committee in the Iraqi Parliament, said in a statement seen by Shafaq News Agency, “The Federal Ministry of Finance has notes on the April payrolls,” without disclosing the content of those notes.
She added that the Iraqi Ministry of Finance is likely to deposit April salaries into the bank account of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government by the end of this week.
On Wednesday, 2/21/2024, the Federal Supreme Court (the highest judicial authority in Iraq) decided to oblige Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, Prime Minister of the Federal Council, and the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, to localize the salaries of employees and workers in the public sector with federal banks.
The court also decided to oblige the submission of the monthly budget for the region’s employees to the Federal Ministry of Finance, while requiring the region’s Council of Ministers to hand over all oil and non-oil revenues to the federal government.
