The Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq said on Tuesday that the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq "UNAMI" expressed its readiness to provide assistance for the success of the electoral process scheduled to take place next October.
The Director of the Office of the High Commissioner in Erbil, Haider Akram, added that he briefed the UN delegation in a meeting with him in Erbil on the final statistics of the process of updating the voter register and the next plan for the electronic voter card distribution phase in the Erbil governorate, in addition to the media, logistical and technical plans.
He added that the delegation showed full cooperation and assistance in the electoral field, and continuous coordination with the office administration to see the progress of work, overcome all obstacles, develop appropriate solutions to them, and share opinions and ideas for the success of the work.
The Kurdistan Regional Office of the Commission had completed its voter registration work, as 146 candidates in Kurdistan were competing for 46 parliamentary seats for the Iraqi elections.
