    Today, Sunday, the Ministry of Finance confirmed that the first phase of the Diwaniyah-Shafi’i project aims to reclaim 15,000 dunums of agricultural land.
    The Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, conducted an inspection tour to look at the final stages of the Diwaniyah-Shafi’i land reclamation project, accompanied by the governor of Diwaniyah and a number of general directors and directors of the Ministry's formations working in the governorate, according to a statement by the media office of the Minister of Water Resources Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani.
    According to the statement, the minister stated, "The ministry is working on a shift from traditional irrigation to modern irrigation and rationing of water use, adding that this project aims to reclaim 15 thousand dunums as a first stage and that the ministry is keen to expand this experience." The progress of work and in preparation for the opening of the first phase, which will be completed in the near future.
    He pointed out that "the wise management of water resources has contributed to securing sufficient water quotas for the success of the current summer season," noting that "the tremendous efforts made by the cadres of the ministry working on the project resulted in a high flow of work and thus the completion of the project within the specified times."
