The Strategic Center for Human Rights in Iraq said that international election monitoring cannot cover and monitor more than five percent of the polling stations.
The director of the center, Hazem Al-Rudaini, welcomed the UN Security Council’s decision to extend the work of the UNAMI mission and monitor the early elections scheduled for the tenth of next October, indicating that it is a positive decision.
Al-Rudaini called on the government to allocate money to the local monitoring teams and to support civil society organizations, noting that local teams can cover all polling stations, unlike international teams that cannot cover more than five percent of the polling stations.
