Al-Shibli said, in an interview with the official newspaper and followed by "People", (May 29, 2021), that "the Baghdad train project has stopped its implementation after 50 billion dinars were allocated in the current year budget only," noting that "he discussed with senior officials in the ministry the possibility To proceed with signing the contract with the Korean company (Hyundai) and (Alston) French with these allocations, since the project is being implemented in the form of a loan for the project by the two executing companies that have not shown any objection to its implementation.
He added that "the ministry is studying these steps before going to sign the contract with the two aforementioned companies to begin implementing it."
Al-Shibli stated that "the project is a great investment opportunity and an important civilized step in Baghdad, as it serves internal mobility, as well as it will provide thousands of job opportunities for young people and will contribute to moving the wheel of the economy."
Separately, the Minister of Transport affirmed that "the port company has begun to construct a number of new berths in the northern and southern ports of Umm Qasr, which have been referred to foreign companies, most of them through joint operation, as well as setting up grand plans for the development of sea ports, the most important of which is the construction of a 5 km security fence. As well as creating new streets. "
