    Baghdad - IQ
The spokesman for the International Coalition, Colonel Wayne Maroto, said, Saturday (June 5, 2021), that the US-Iraqi talks represent progress and are consistent with Washington's commitments to Baghdad.
Maroto said in a tweet on Twitter, followed by  IQ News , that "Commander of the Joint Task Force - Operation Resolve, Paul Calvert, met the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations Staff Lieutenant-General Abdul-Amir Al-Shammari, in Iraq, in the first of a series of technical talks, as agreed during Strategic Dialogue between the United States and Iraq in April.
"These technical talks represent a natural progression of our ongoing dialogue with the Iraqis, and are in line with the commitments made during the US-Iraq Strategic Dialogue," Maroto added.
The Joint Operations Command had confirmed earlier today, Saturday, in a statement received by  IQ News , that the American side reiterated its respect for Iraqi sovereignty, while the two sides agreed on a framework for the upcoming sessions to discuss the long-term security relationship.
