Oil prices recorded, on Tuesday, a noticeable decline for the second day in a row, amid concerns about the slowdown in demand for fuel, as the outbreak of the highly contagious COVID-19 delta virus imposed new restrictions on movement around the world.
Brent crude futures fell 27 cents, or 0.35%, to $73.88 a barrel.
US West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell 27 cents, or 0.36%, to $72.66 a barrel.
The escalation in delta-variable cases comes as the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Russia and its allies, known as OPEC+, are scheduled to meet on July 1 to discuss easing their supply restrictions.
The OPEC demand forecast shows that global oil supply in the fourth quarter will fall below demand by 2.2 million barrels per day, giving producers some room to agree to increase production. Ended 29/A 4
