{Local: Al Furat News} The office of the Supreme Religious Reference, Grand Ayatollah Imam Sayyed Ali al-Sistani, responded to the ruling on selling medicines on the (black market) as well as in pharmacies more than their price, and the ruling on medicines that are not subject to control.

The question: Recently, the phenomenon of selling and buying medicines has increased openly in some local and commercial markets. We kindly ask you to express your opinion on this subject on two assumptions:
First: Some citizens buy medicines coming through aid in one way or another and then sell them to some people coming from some countries Neighboring ?
Second: There are some medicines that enter Iraq through some agents, knowing that these medicines are not subject to drug control or what is called quality control, but are sold in the markets directly?
Answer: First: It is not permissible.
Second: If that does not entail any risks, then there is nothing wrong with it, otherwise it is not permissible.
Question: What is your opinion of the pharmacist or doctor who sells some medicines outside the department on the black market, whether patients need them or not, and whether the doctor is in need because of his lack of resources or not?
Answer: We do not allow that in its absolute resources.
Question: Is it permissible for a pharmacist to sell medicine for more than it was priced?
Answer: It is not permissible.
