On Thursday (July 1, 2021), the Cabinet Secretariat announced the approval of a second contract with an electric power supply company to compensate for the shortfall in national energy production for the northern region.
In a statement received by IQ News , the General Secretariat said , "The Cabinet approved a second contract with Qaiwan Electric Power Supply Company for the northern region and to compensate for the shortage in national energy production."
And she indicated that "the decision came based on the recommendation of the Ministerial Council for Energy, which stipulated the supply of electric power through the (Khabat - Qaraqosh) line with a voltage of 132 kV and a capacity of (100-150) megawatts, in addition to the capacity previously contracted to supply for the (Chemchamal - Taza) and two lines. (Kardamala - molasses), in an amount of (300 + 15%) to compensate for the shortage of electric power, due to the lack of gas supplied by the Iranian side, and the continued need for the electrical system.”
She added that "according to the decision, the General Electricity Transmission Company / Northern Region of the Ministry of Electricity shall bear the amounts of taxes owed by Qaiwan Company, and this is regulated by the contract concluded between them."
