    Government spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi announced on Thursday that the Council of Ministers had approved contracting with private sector companies to supply additional quantities of energy.
    Al-Awadi said in a press conference followed by "Al-Eqtisad News", "As part of the government's treatment of the electricity file and the development of direct solutions, the Council of Ministers approved in its session today the Ministry of Electricity's contracting with private sector companies to provide an additional amount of energy, due to the summer peak load, using the (Take and Pay) method, according to the equation proposed by the Ministry of Electricity, for a period of 3 months, extendable according to the system's needs, and according to financial powers."

    He added, "It was also approved to exempt the Oil Products Distribution Company, for the purpose of contracting with a tanker company to transport operational fuel to private sector stations; to enable the transfer of fuel as quickly as possible, and to begin providing electrical energy to the national system."
