Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, and the Syrian Ambassador in Baghdad, Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah, stressed today, Wednesday, the importance of controlling the common borders between the two countries.
And his media office said in a statement received by the "National News Center", that "Al-Araji received, in his office today, the Syrian ambassador in Baghdad, Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah, and during the meeting, the political and security conditions in the region were reviewed, and the importance of controlling the common borders and strengthening security cooperation between Baghdad and Damascus, in the field of combating terrorism and preventing the infiltration of terrorists across the borders.
Al-Araji conveyed to the Syrian ambassador, “The Iraqi government and people welcomed the return of Syria’s openness with some countries, as well as the opening of the (Jaber) border crossing between Syria and Jordan.”
Al-Araji stressed Iraq's keenness on "Syria's return to the Arab League," expressing his hope that "Syria will return to the pre-exceptional conditions that it went through, and witness more security and stability."
