An informed political source revealed, on Tuesday, that the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, is in the process of appointing a new head of the Sadrist movement's political body.
The source said, requesting anonymity, that "Al-Sadr is in the process of naming Ahmed Al-Mutairi, head of the Sadrist movement's political body, instead of Nassar Al-Rubaie."
He added, "Al-Rubaie will be the first vice president of the commission, in addition to assigning Nabil Al-Tarifi as a second deputy," noting that new decisions may be issued within days.
The Sadrist bloc had topped the preliminary results of the early parliamentary elections that took place last month, by a large margin from his closest rival.
The bloc won 73 seats, and the State of Law coalition came second with 34 seats.
The Sadrist movement seeks to fill the position of prime minister in the next government amid competition with other Shiite forces within the coordination framework.
