The Ministry of Water Resources stated that the current water crisis is more severe than that of the past two years, revealing that there are no signs of cooperation on the part of Turkey and Iran.
The Minister of Resources, Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, said during a press conference attended by "Al-Sabah": "Water scarcity has become a reality that requires everyone to unite to overcome it, which will be more severe than its counterpart for the past two years."
He stressed "the need to limit the encroachments on the river basins, whose appearance has become clear, especially in the Wasit governorate, which represents the course of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and its direct impact on the governorates: Dhi Qar, Maysan and Basra," warning that "the ministry will take very harsh measures in cooperation with the security forces against transgressors." on her".
Al-Hamdani attributed the reason for the scarcity of water and rain to “the continuous climatic changes and for the third season, which affected: Iraq, Iran, Turkey and Syria, especially as it will continue for the coming months, as well as the presence of abuses and the acquisition of the water share of other governorates.”
He noted that "the government has paid great attention to the foreign policy of water," stressing in the same context, "there are no signs of cooperation on the part of Turkey and Iran to address water scarcity."
