    Books / Salah Hizam…
The crisis sparked by the Iraqi Ministry of Reconstruction's announcement a few days ago of its intention to demolish Al-Rasheed Theater within a week has sparked widespread confusion in various circles.
Some of them talked about human shields to protect the theater, similar to the idea of the famous White Flag series.
The alleged decision of the ministry was not logical because the land belongs to the state in all cases, and its ownership can be transferred quietly within the government without fanfare.
But the frightening dramatic announcement of the demolition of the theater within a week was strange and naive, and it was clear that he wanted to provoke a wave of panic, especially among the intellectuals.
This incident reminded me of what happened once in the United States when the owners of a forest area in one of the United States announced that they would cut down a group of old trees in that area called (redwood, which can live 3000 years) for the purpose of investing the land for other purposes.
Here, environmentalists staged demonstrations and held a sit-in in the area of those trees and built a human fence to prevent them from being cut down.
The issue reached Congress, which decided to purchase that land from its owners, for a large sum of $400 million.
In the Al-Rasheed Theater incident, I remembered the incident of trees in America and I felt that we have become like America, respecting the right of property to the point of damnation!!
Even if it is owned by another government agency!!
And when popular anger and anxiety escalated over the fate of the ancient theater, the solution came.
The solution and the happy and honorable gift was the government's decision to transfer the ownership of the land to the Ministry of Culture.
Was this not possible within the corridors of the government without a dramatic announcement by the Ministry of Construction, which does not take in the right the blame of the blamers in its defense of its real estate rights usurped by the enemies??
It seems that some are so unsuccessful that they cannot even lie in an acceptable and orderly manner...
