On Monday, the Iraqi Ministry of Culture announced the recovery of 337 artifacts from the Nabu Museum in Lebanon, dating back to different periods of time, including the Akkadian period, the Ur III period, and the ancient Babylonian era.
The head of the Antiquities and Heritage Authority in the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, Laith Majid Hussein, confirmed that the ministries of culture, foreign affairs and justice, in addition to the National Security Apparatus, have made unremitting efforts for the success of the recovery of these artifacts, pointing to the announcement soon of the recovery of another group of artifacts from outside Iraq. .
The Undersecretary of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Tahseen Barwari, said that the Lebanese side was very cooperative, and facilitated the process of recovering artifacts to Iraq.
It is noteworthy that in 2021 Iraq had recovered about 17,000 artifacts, and Gilgamesh's dream came from the United States of America.
The Kingdom of Ur, which was founded more than 4500 years ago and was one of the first centers of civilization in the world, was established on the fertile banks of the Euphrates River, and for the first time in human history writing was used in the form of cuneiform symbols.
The Nabu Museum, which was named after the god of wisdom and writing in Mesopotamia, was established in 2018 and houses hundreds of artifacts, some of which are thousands of years old. These antiquities come from private collections, the most prominent of which is a collection of about two thousand pieces owned by Jawad Adra, according to AFP.
